Who is teaching our boys?

African-American stateman made a famous statement while dialaguing with white slave masters who wouldn’t let their slaves go. They wouldn’t comprehend where he was coming from but he knew why they wouldn’t. After so much thoughts, he made the statement:

‘It’s easier to build stronger children than to repair broken men.’

While this statement was made in 1855, it still holds true today. ‘Train a child in a way he should go and when he grows, he will not depart from it’. Broken men can only build broken men. This is a circle. We have been collectively socialized and this includes the men and women. Someone is teaching our boys. The question is, who is teaching our boys? This is a call to action. If we do not break the circle about this misconceptions which are indemic in our world about manhood, our boys, girls, men and women will suffer.

There have been overwhelming support, advocacies and programs to bring up the girl child but unfortunately for the untrained boy child. We need to come together and teach our boys the right way they should go.

Building STRONGER MEN
